A huge thanks to the more than 100 friends who came out last Friday night to our “Evening of Africa” at the Wakeman Town Farm in Westport, CT, to support Unite’s work. We are thrilled to share that the event raised $37,000, helping us nearly reach our goal of $50,000 to scale and further develop the Unite Food Program (UFP) in Tanzania this harvest season. These funds will enable Unite to:
Purchase maize from 300+ small-scale farmers providing them with fair prices as well as two Agro-Z hermetic bags each, allowing them the safe and secure storage of a portion of their harvest pest-free for use over the coming year.
Increase the UFP fleet to facilitate the coordination and transport of the raw maize from the remote rural villages in Western Tanzania to UFP headquarters in Dar es Salaam and then out — as cleaned, processed, and packaged final maize flour products — to retailers, wholesalers, and direct to consumers.
Purchase, retrofit, and install a 40-ft container to serve as extra storage for UFP grain inventory.
For those of you who missed the event, click on the hyperlinks below to hear the short talks given by our Unite teammates.
Many people asked how they could commission an oil painting by Unite’s partner artist Maliondo Amini. Please click HERE to learn more about how to place an order.
